Barman, the 2018 gold medalist, sparked uproar on social media after claiming she was robbed of a medal by a transgender competitor, without naming anyone. Her insensitive comments came after she narrowly missed the podium in Hangzhou. Nandini, who won bronze, asserted her identity as a woman and vowed to complain to the Athletics Federation of India over the allegations. Though Barman deleted her post, Nandini was furious over the insinuations that questioned her gender. She refuted the claims and condemned Barman for unfairly targeting the transgender community over her loss.

Virat Kohli had to fly back to Mumbai from Guwahati due to a personal emergency while the rest of the squad arrived in Trivandrum for the second ICC World Cup warmup against the Netherlands. Though BCCI hasn't confirmed if Kohli will miss the warm-up game, a report claims he will return in time and join his teammates on October 2.
