India clinched 2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals in athletics at the Asian Games on Sunday. Tajinderpal Singh Toor won shot put gold while Avinash Sable became the first Indian to take 3000m steeplechase gold with a Games record. Jyothi Yarraji's 100m hurdles bronze was upgraded to silver after China's Wu Yanni was disqualified. India also won 1500m and long jump silver, and 1500m and discus throw bronze. Earlier, Nikhat Zareen claimed boxing bronze, Kynan Chenai won 50m trap shooting bronze while golfer Aditi Ashok and women's trap team secured silvers. However, in badminton, the men's team lost a hard-fought gold medal match against rivals China and had to settle for silver. With 13 gold, 21 silver, and 19 bronze medals, India ranks 4th on the medal tally with a total of 53 medals till now.
