The Government has Banned 18 Streaming Platforms due to their Obscene and Pornographic Content

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has blocked 18 streaming platforms, 19 websites, 10 apps, and 57 social media accounts for distributing "obscene, vulgar, and pornographic content." This action is in accordance with various sections of the law, including the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Information Technology Act. The blocked platforms, such as Besharams and Hunters, were found to produce sexually explicit content, including scenes depicting nudity and inappropriate relationships. MIB emphasized the demeaning portrayal of women and the lack of societal relevance in the content.
