Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated filmmaker Payal Kapadia for winning the Grand Prix at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival for her film "All We Imagine As Light." Modi praised Kapadia, an FTII alumna, for her creativity and for inspiring a new generation of filmmakers. This marks the first Grand Prix win for an Indian filmmaker, and the first Indian film in 30 years to compete in the main competition. Kapadia received the award from actor Viola Davis.
