Indian filmmaker Payal Kapadia's debut feature, "All We Imagine As Light," won the prestigious Grand Prix at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The film, which tells the story of two nurses navigating life and dreams, received an eight-minute standing ovation. Kapadia, an FTII alumna, is the first Indian female director to have a film in the main competition in 30 years. International critics have praised her storytelling. Kapadia's previous work includes the acclaimed documentary "A Night of Knowing Nothing," which won the Oeil d'or at Cannes in 2021.
