Incidents of post-poll violence were reported across West Bengal after election results. Leaders and workers of the All India Trinamool Congress were chased and attacked in areas like Cooch Behar, Asansol, and Howrah. Party offices were also vandalised and set on fire. The violence came as the Bharatiya Janata Party surged ahead in the Assembly elections. Clashes between supporters of both parties were reported near counting centres. Security forces carried out action to control the situation. BJP leader Arjun Singh urged workers to remain calm. “Maintain restraint and uphold law and order,” he said in a message. (PC: India Today)
