Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “The lotus has bloomed in West Bengal,” as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the 2026 Assembly elections. The party secured over 200 seats. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee, suffered a major defeat after three terms in power. BJP supporters celebrated across the state.
