At least 13 people were killed and over 40 injured after a massive explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Mundathikode, Thrissur, during preparations for the famous Thrissur Pooram. The blast occurred on April 21, 2026, when workers were handling fireworks materials inside the facility. Many victims suffered severe burn injuries, with five reported in critical condition.
