India opener Sanju Samson said Sachin Tendulkar helped him during a difficult phase before the 2026 T20 World Cup. Samson had lost his place in the team after a poor series against New Zealand. He said he felt broken and reached out to Tendulkar for advice. The former captain spoke to him and helped him improve his mindset and preparation. Samson later returned to the team during the World Cup and performed strongly. He scored 321 runs in five innings and became India’s highest run-scorer in the tournament. Samson also won the Player of the Tournament award after India defeated New Zealand in the final.
