Bangladesh’s interim government has sent a new request to India to extradite former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. She was recently given the death sentence by the International Crimes Tribunal. Hasina has been living in India since August 2024 after the student-led “July Uprising” forced her from power. Officials said this is Dhaka’s third formal request. Bangladesh has also asked India to return former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, who was sentenced in the same case. Dhaka said the extradition treaty requires India to send back convicted people. India has noted the verdict but has not commented on the request. (PC: AFP)
