Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Johannesburg on Sunday. Meloni expressed solidarity with India over the November 10 blast outside Delhi’s Red Fort and reaffirmed Italy’s support in fighting terrorism. Both leaders adopted the “India-Italy Joint Initiative to Counter Financing of Terrorism,” which will boost cooperation against terror funding and strengthen work at global bodies like FATF and GCTF. They also discussed expanding ties in trade, investment, technology, space, defence, and culture. Meloni backed the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and supported India’s AI Summit planned for 2026.
