Afghan Commerce Minister Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi Visits India to Boost Trade, Revive Air Freight Corridor

Afghanistan’s Industry and Commerce Minister Alhaj Nooruddin Azizi has begun a five-day official visit to India aimed at strengthening trade and bilateral cooperation. Welcomed by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Azizi is scheduled to meet officials handling commerce and investment. Talks are expected to focus on expanding agricultural exports to India, boosting Indian exports of pharmaceuticals, machinery, and textiles, and improving transport corridors via air cargo and Iran’s Chabahar port. Restoring disrupted payment channels and reviving the India–Afghanistan Air Freight Corridor are also on the agenda. The visit follows last month’s meeting between S Jaishankar and Afghan Foreign Minister Muttaqi, underscoring enduring India–Afghanistan friendship.
