In an affidavit submitted to Delhi High Court, Kashmiri separatist Yasin Malik claimed former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed gratitude for meeting Lashkar-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan in 2006. Malik alleged the meeting occurred at Intelligence Bureau officials' behest for peace efforts following Pakistan's earthquake. He stated Singh invited him for formal dialogue in February 2006, assuring Kashmir issue resolution and later thanking him for efforts with Pakistani militant leaders. Malik also claimed meeting former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee in 1995 regarding Kashmir. The National Investigation Agency seeks death penalty for Malik in a terror funding case. Currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail since 2022 life sentence, Malik faces allegations of threatening national sovereignty. (PC: BBC & Instagram)
