Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin during the SCO summit. Modi said India is committed to moving ties forward with “mutual trust, respect, and sensitivity.” He added, “The cooperation between us is linked to the interests of 2.8 billion people of our two nations.” Modi also noted peace after border disengagement and spoke about resuming the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and starting direct flights. Xi welcomed Modi, saying, “It is the right choice for both countries to be friends and good neighbours.” This is Modi’s first visit to China in seven years.
