During the second day of his official visit to Japan on August 30, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled on a Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Sendai alongside Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba . Upon arrival, he met Indian locomotive pilots currently training at East Japan Railway Company (JR East) . The leaders also observed the advanced ALFA-X bullet train and were briefed by the chairman of JR East . Earlier, PM Modi had met governors of 16 Japanese prefectures, urging implementation of the State-Prefecture Partnership Initiative launched at the summit. (PC: X)
