Symbolic Khalistan Embassy Opens At Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara In Surrey: Sparks New India-Canada Diplomatic Tensions

A symbolic "Embassy of the Republic of Khalistan" has been established inside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey, Canada. Once led by slain Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The move coincides with preparations for a Khalistan referendum by the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), reigniting tensions between India and Canada. Nijjar was killed outside the same gurdwara in 2023, triggering a diplomatic freeze. The embassy openly supports Nijjar and threatens recent efforts at rapprochement, including a G7 summit meeting between PM Modi and Canadian PM Mark Carney. India views the development as Ottawa’s failure to curb extremist threats, now echoed by Canadian intelligence assessments. (PC: India Today & Surrey Now Leader)
