India and the United Kingdom signed a landmark Free Trade Agreement (FTA) on Thursday during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s UK visit. The deal grants duty-free access to Indian agricultural exports like mangoes, turmeric, tea, and pickles. PM Modi called it “a historic step that will empower our farmers and strengthen rural India’s global reach.” The pact protects India’s dairy sector while offering new opportunities in fisheries and food processing. UK PM Keir Starmer hailed it as the “most significant trade deal since Brexit.” India also thanked the UK for its support after the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 9 soldiers. (PC: X)
