India has intensified efforts to deport illegal immigrants, primarily from Bangladesh, and has urged Dhaka to speed up nationality verification for over 2,360 individuals. Many of them have completed their jail terms but remain in the country due to delays in verification since 2020. States like Tripura and Odisha have initiated measures such as setting up detention centers and identifying undocumented migrants. In Rajasthan, 148 Bangladeshi immigrants were transported for deportation. However, concerns about wrongful detention have emerged, with allegations of Indian citizens being misidentified as illegal immigrants. (PC: PTI)
