The revocation came soon after Turkey backed Pakistan, prompting speculation of political motives. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi argued the move violated Rule 12 and natural justice, as Celebi was not given notice or a chance to respond. The Centre defended the decision, citing national security.
