Following the April 22, 2025 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir—which killed 26 civilians—India has formally briefed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and requested that The Resistance Front (TRF) be designated as a terrorist organization under the 1267 Sanctions Committee. India claims TRF is a proxy of the UN-proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), operating under a new name to evade sanctions. Although TRF initially claimed responsibility for the attack, it later retracted. India is presenting evidence at the UN to push for international recognition and sanctions against the group for cross-border terrorism. (PC: AFP)
