On Saturday evening, several districts in Punjab, including Ferozepur, Barnala, Pathankot, Sangrur, and others, experienced blackouts just hours after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire. The Ferozepur blackout began at 8:40 PM, described by officials as a "precautionary measure," urging citizens to follow safety protocols and avoid panic. Similar directives were issued in Barnala, Sangrur, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Amritsar, Malerkotla, Bathinda, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, and Kapurthala. In Ludhiana and Jalandhar, streetlights were turned off, and residents were advised to observe voluntary blackouts. These measures followed reports of explosions and sirens in Jammu and Kashmir, casting doubt on the ceasefire's effectiveness. J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah questioned the ceasefire's validity on social media. (PC: India Today & Express photo/ Kamleshwar Singh)
