On May 8, 2025, India launched targeted drone strikes under Operation Sindoor, destroying Pakistan’s HQ-9 air defence systems in Lahore. The attack came in retaliation to a failed Pakistani drone and missile offensive on 15 Indian military installations, which were neutralized by India’s S-400 and counter-drone systems. Using Israeli HAROP kamikaze drones, India crippled Lahore’s aerial defence, causing panic, multiple explosions, and visible smoke clouds. Four Pakistani soldiers were injured, and a civilian in Sindh was reportedly killed. This marks a significant escalation in Indo-Pak tensions following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
