Major General (Retd) ALM Fazlur Rahman, an aide to Bangladesh's interim Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, suggested that if India attacks Pakistan, Bangladesh should occupy India's northeastern states and seek a joint military arrangement with China. The Yunus-led interim government distanced itself from Rahman's remarks, stating they do not reflect official policy. Rahman, appointed in December 2024 as chairman of the National Independent Commission investigating the 2009 Bangladesh Rifles revolt, made the comments on Facebook. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the government neither endorses nor supports such rhetoric. The statement comes amid heightened tensions following a terrorist attack in Kashmir, for which India blames Pakistan, raising regional security concerns. (PC: Dhaka Tribune & X/Chief Adviser GoB)
