Delhi Health Authorities Mandate Isolation and Direct Hospitals to Report Suspected HMPV Cases

Delhi health authorities have issued an advisory to prepare for potential respiratory illnesses, including Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), following a rise in cases in China. Hospitals have been instructed to follow strict isolation protocols and report cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) and Influenza-like Illness (ILI) on the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) portal. Medical facilities are advised to stock essential medications, including paracetamol, antihistamines, and oxygen. Despite concerns, no significant surge in respiratory illnesses has been reported in India as of January 2, 2025, according to health officials.
