CBFC Delays Certification for Kangana Ranaut's Film "Emergency," ASG Says Sensitivity and Threats Under Review

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has not yet cleared Kangana Ranaut’s film "Emergency," based on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's life, citing "sensitivity of the issue." Additional Solicitor General Satyapal Jain assured that the Board is considering all community sentiments, including those of the Sikh community. The certification may be delayed past the film's September 6 release date. Jain clarified in court that the Board is still processing the application and welcomes public representations. Ranaut had previously claimed the certification was withheld due to threats to the CBFC.
