Union Home Minister Amit Shah filed nomination papers in Gandhinagar, revealing assets totaling Rs 36 crore. Notably, he doesn't own a car. His assets consist of Rs 20 crore movable and Rs 16 crore immovable. Shah also declared jewellery worth Rs 72 lakh, while his wife, Sonal Shah, declared assets exceeding Rs 31 crore, including jewelry worth Rs 1.10 crore. The couple disclosed loans amounting to Rs 42.09 lakh. Amit Shah's annual income was Rs 75.09 lakh in 2022-23, sourced from his MP salary, rents, farming, and investments, while his wife earned Rs 39.54 lakh.

Despite challenges posed by barbed wire fencing along the India-Bangladesh border, around 2,500 voters crossed over to cast their votes in Tripura during the Lok Sabha polls on April 19. These voters, historically isolated due to the fencing, expressed eagerness to participate in democracy's festival. Security was heightened, and authorities ensured smooth facilitation of voting. Residents lauded the cooperation received, with many already having cast their votes. Incidents of intimidation and firing occurred in multiple locations, including Thamnapokpi and Uripok. Voters retaliated by damaging EVMs and election materials. Congress candidate Angomcha Bimol Akoijam lodged a complaint after his agent was forcefully removed by armed youths. Manipur's chief electoral officer Pradeep Kumar Jha vowed to investigate. Earlier clashes resulted in EVM damage at Khongman Zone 4. The situation remains tense as polling continues.

Residents of six districts in Nagaland staged a mass boycott of the Lok Sabha polls, yielding zero voter turnout. The Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) spearheaded the protest, demanding a separate state, "Frontier Nagaland." Over 4 lakh voters abstained from voting, showing solidarity with ENPO's grievances of neglect and lack of development in the region. Despite 738 polling stations being set up, no voters cast their ballots by 1 pm.
