Punjab Police are investigating a viral Instagram post claiming responsibility for the murder of kabaddi player Rana Balachauria in Mohali. The post described the killing as “revenge” for singer Sidhu Moosewala’s murder in 2022. It alleged that Balachauria had links with rival gangster groups. Police said the post is under verification and forms part of the probe. Balachauria was shot dead on Monday evening during a kabaddi tournament in Mohali’s Sohana area. The attack caused panic among spectators. The injured player was rushed to hospital but was declared dead. The Election Commission has removed over 58 lakh names from West Bengal’s draft voter list after a Special Intensive Revision. Officials said the move was done to remove errors and duplication. Of the deleted names, 24 lakh were marked as dead, 19 lakh as relocated, 12 lakh as missing, and 1.3 lakh as duplicate. The draft list marks the end of the first phase of the revision. Voters can now file objections and seek corrections. The final voter list will be published in February next year, ahead of the Bengal Assembly elections. The Election Commission has released the draft voter list for West Bengal after a month-long Special Intensive Revision. The exercise reviewed entries across the state. Around 58 lakh names are likely removed from the rolls. Officials said over 58.17 lakh forms were uncollected. These include voters who were absent, dead, or listed more than once. The draft list ends the first phase of the revision. The next stage will allow claims and objections. Hearings will follow across districts.
