22-year-old Indian student, Saketh Sreenivasaiah, was found dead in Lake Anza in California on February 14. He was a postgraduate student at UC Berkeley. He had been missing since February 9. His roommate said Saketh had shown signs of distress. He was “surviving on chips and cookies” and eating less. He once said, “I’ve stopped caring, man.” His backpack was found earlier in a nearby area. Police are yet to confirm the cause of death. India defeated Pakistan by 61 runs in their T20 World Cup 2026 match in Colombo and confirmed a place in the Super 8 stage. India scored 175 for 7 after strong knocks from Ishan Kishan and late hits from Rinku Singh. Pakistan were bowled out for 114 in the chase. Indian bowlers took regular wickets from the powerplay and never allowed a recovery. Hardik Pandya finished the match by bowling Usman Tariq. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India now negotiates trade deals from a “position of strength”. In an interview with PTI, he said, “Political stability and predictability have restored investor confidence.” He added that growth in manufacturing, services and MSMEs has strengthened India’s global standing. India has signed free trade agreements with 38 countries. These deals aim to help sectors like textiles, leather and gems. Modi also criticised the previous UPA government, saying talks would “begin and then breakdown”. Recently, India signed trade pacts with the US, EU and UK to boost trade and market access. (PC: PTI)

Pakistan lost key wickets and slipped to 73 for 5 in 11 overs while chasing 176 against India in the T20 World Cup match in Colombo. Usman Khan was the top scorer with 44 before Axar Patel dismissed him to break the stand. Axar finished a tight spell and took two wickets to slow the chase. Kuldeep Yadav also built pressure with spin from the other end. Pakistan had entered this match after a win against the USA in their previous game. 7 people died in a road accident near Bengaluru early Thursday morning. Police said a speeding SUV hit a motorcycle from behind. The rider died on the spot. The SUV then crashed into a divider, overturned and hit a truck. Another car later rammed into the damaged truck, causing a pile-up. All six people inside the SUV died. Police suspect overspeeding caused the crash. The victims were from Bengaluru and were travelling towards Devanahalli. The motorcycle rider was the only earning member of his family. A case has been registered and investigation is ongoing. 

India faced a middle-order setback against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2026 match in Colombo after losing Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya on successive balls. Spinner Saim Ayub removed Tilak with an LBW decision when the batter missed a sweep. On the next ball, Hardik was caught at long-off by Babar Azam after mistiming a shot. Ayub nearly completed a hat-trick but Shivam Dube survived. At that stage, India were 127 for 4 after 15 overs. Suryakumar Yadav stayed at the crease with Dube and carried the scoring role. Fresh snow warnings have been issued for parts of eastern England as flooding risks continue in more than 70 areas. The Met Office placed a yellow snow alert from 10am to 4pm on Sunday. Rain is expected to turn into sleet and snow in some regions. Travel disruption is possible. Slushy snow of up to 4cm may fall in parts of Norfolk and Lincolnshire. The Environment Agency said 74 flood warnings and 162 alerts remain in place. About 330 homes and businesses have flooded. Officials urged people to stay alert as heavy showers, hail and thunder are also forecast. (PC: PA)

11 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes in Gaza on Sunday, local rescue and health officials said. Six people died after a strike hit a tent camp in northern Gaza. Five others were killed in the south. The Israeli military said it targeted militants after Hamas violated the ceasefire. Both sides have accused each other of breaking the truce since October 10. Gaza’s health ministry said about 600 people have died since the ceasefire began. The war started after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023. Ishan Kishan scored a fast 27-ball half-century to lift India against Pakistan in their T20 World Cup 2026 Group A match in Colombo. India lost opener Abhishek Sharma in the first over to captain Salman Ali Agha, who took the new ball. After the early wicket, Kishan attacked and rebuilt the innings with quick runs. The pitch at R Premadasa Stadium looked slow but India kept the scoring rate high. Captain Suryakumar Yadav led the side after winning the toss formalities without a handshake with his counterpart.
