An Indian-born businessman is among 17 naturalised Americans facing the loss of their US citizenship under a major crackdown by the Trump administration. Neeraj Sharma, former CEO of a New Jersey staffing company, is accused of filing fraudulent H-1B visa petitions and providing false information during his citizenship application process. According to the US Justice Department, Sharma hid details of his alleged offences when applying for citizenship in 2017. He was later convicted of visa fraud. Authorities are now seeking to revoke his citizenship. The administration says it is increasing efforts to target people who obtained US citizenship through fraud or misrepresentation.
